Do you struggle with injuries and running shoes!
It took me years to find the shoe that truly supported me and kept me injury free during training. After finding the perfect shoe, it was later discontinued so I had to go through the entire, exhausting process again. Has this ever happened to you? I tried this test a few years ago and it helped me so much! Try it and see which type of arch you have!
✅ Fill a cookie sheet with a layer of water
✅ Place a thick piece of paper or an envelope next to the cookie sheet
✅ Wet your foot then step on the paper/envelope
✅ Look at your footprint and take note of what the arch looks like
- Normal/medium arch – Is part of the arch filled in (like mine)? You have an arch that naturally supports your body weight. You can wear almost any type of shoe!
2. Flat/low arch – Is most or all of the arch filled in? Your foot most likely rotates inward when running causing your arch to take most of the shock absorption. Consider shoes with more stability and a wider midsole
3. High arch – Do you only see your heel and ball of your foot on your footprint? A shoe with no arch support, a lot of cushion and minimal stability may be best!
Which arch are you?! 🏃
⚠️ WARNING ‼️ This is only one method to determine which shoe is best for you. Other factors that will lead to choosing the right shoe include running style, your body structure and weekly mileage.
